We have been waiting a long time for there to be a  double pram or stroller available to Australia that is reasonable in size, weight and stability. We even nagged Silver Cross to (pretty please) hurry up and release one of their nifty double strollers here. We waited patiently, and are rapt to introduce you to the Pop Duo!

The new Silver Cross Pop Duo is  a zappy double stroller, perfect for two kids up to 15kgs each. The Pop Duo features a handy umbrella fold and independent seat back and hoods for the individual comfort of each child. Headrests, lockable swivel wheels, easy-access shopping baskets and that all-important cup holder are just a few of the other features of the Pop Duo.

The team here at bebe often  get asked  by Stokke Xplory owners  whether there will ever be a buggy board or toddler seat option released for the Xplory stroller.  With the impending arrival of a newborn, many parents really don’t  want to give up their pride and joy and go down the double pram route.  It’s also a well-known fact in Stokke circles that toddlers don’t like to give up their Xplory view of life. Seated high above the other strollers they love to experience life on the move whilst casually chatting away to Mum or Dad. But, sometimes a new brother or sister comes along and toddler has to give up the prized position atop their beloved Xplory.

Finally, whilst it’s not a double Stokke Xplory (I’m sure that would be a delight to behold), it’s the next best thing in the form of the The Stokke Xplory Rider.   The Rider board simply attaches to the Xplory chassis to allow both children to ride in style. When not in use, it’s quickly and easily folded away to await its next adventure.

Available in the first quarter of 2010, this will no doubt be welcome news for those feeling pensive about selling up for a double as until now there’s been no approved options from other manufacturers.  Watch this space!

The countdown to the holidays is on. Woo hoo! We know first hand what a difference a quality stroller can make to  family travels, especially those that involve planes, and those dreaded “in-transit” periods. The Silver Cross Fizz is a great choice for travel as it ticks all those essential boxes of being ultra light-weight (4.5kgs), carry basket and umbrella fold. It  has the option of reclining back, which is such a useful feature when kiddies get over-tired pn journeys and need their naps.

This week we’re giving away a Silver Cross Fizz Stroller in Eclipse to one member of our bebe online community. To enter you just need to become a Facebook Fan and answer the question - What is your favourite Family Friendly Holiday Destination? You will see the competition post on our Facebook Wall here: www.facebook.com/bebeonline

Competition closes 3/12 at 6pm.  Good luck!

I thought I’d share this family shot taken last week in sunny San Francisco.  We were suprised by how miles the Stokke Xplory stroller clocked up in that it was our five year old Liam doing all the cruising, whle Harper (shown right) travelled nice & close in the Ergo Sport. It did make it much easier navigating through the city knowing both kiddies were safely restrained (so to speak!).

I recall feeling a tad self conscious after taking this snap as I looked up to find a stream of downtown office workers diverting their  path off the sidewalk and on to the road to acccomodate the capture of our family moment. I asked my Dad  (shown left) who is a local  ”Do we look like tourists, Dad?’ . His response as he watched  me zip up my camera and sling it around my neck was frank, yet gentle”I would say, yes”.

Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban spotted this week taking Sunday out for a stroll  in her Urban Mountain Buggy Stroller. Sunday looks slightly ..ahem..slouched…we’re not quite sure how ergonomic such a position is. We’re quite sure … (well we know for a fact) that Nic has a few sets of wheels to choose from, with the Mountain Buggy Urban being a wise choice for off-road strolling in Nashville.

Here’s where you will find the latest pics of celebrities and their strollers, with accompanying special comments. We will try and keep the special comments to a minimum as we know that noone finds us anywhere near as witty as we do.

This one features ex-90210 star Tori Spelling pushing what appears to be a pumpkin in her Stokke Xplory stroller.  We are sure there is a story behind the pumpkins (early halloween shopping, perhaps?). Either way we think she looks pretty cool, thanks to her “wheels”.

There I am, besotted Pops with eyes only for the precious cargo on board the best pram I have ever used. This Stokke Xplory has been designed like most of the Scando gear -  to be child and parent focused. I am 6 foot 1 inch (taller in high heels, ladies) so the nice-n-high baby position keeps little Harper nice-n-close to me. When my completely normal height spouse takes over she can lower the height to suit her perfectly and obtains the same close parent/child ratio. The beauty of the Stokke Xplory design is that the baby always feels the reassurance of the responsible adult and if needed the parent can reach out and keep touching the child to provide even further reassurance. The stroller mode capsule (as glamorously illustrated above) is both rearward and frontward facing so when Harper has the proverbial gutful of Pops (unlikely) , she can turn and face the world. The pram we previously  owned managed to frustrate our first born due to us stopping at cafes or fences and chatting/perving whilst our son cried with frustration as all he could see was the underneath of the cafe tables or the bottom of the fence. The Stokke Xplory is designed in a way that if we can see ‘it’, Harper can too - problem solved.

Aesthetically the design is right up my alley, this really is the Audi of the pram world. The comments of curious passersby are both flattering and regular. I would recommend this pram for the both the highly evolved rationale ie. parent/child bonding as well as the terribly shallow rationale of cutting edge design and the constantly flattering looks and questions.

Stokke Xplory is a popular celebrity stroller choice these days, but this doesn’t stop Stokke carrying out their own market research to enable continuous improvement on this superior stroller. The company recently carried out such research on their target demographic and found that customisation was an important feature when purchasing a stroller as well as accessories, Always one to listen to the market, Stokke have just launched two new patterned accessory kit to both personalise and brighten up your Stokke Xplory.

The Forest Cream (as preferred by actress Minnie Driver) features an elegant mix of blues and reds. Let your baby create its own fairytale based on the animals in the forest!

The Forest Olive features vibrant and plaful reds, yellowa, oranges and greens. The colours and patterns were created with the child’s imagination in mind, making their everyday stroll more exciting.

We’re so excited when Stokke release anything new to their range, and these fun accessory kits and footmuffs are no exception. Yay Stokke!
